Contents are subject to change at Ochsner’s discretion.EducationRequired – High School diploma or equivalentWork ExperienceRequired – None.CertificationsPreferred- Certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)Maintaining Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) requirementsKnowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)* Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.* Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.* Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard* Good interpersonal skillsJob Duties* Provides and ensures physical needs are met for all patients by assisting with activities of daily living (ADL), i.e. oral care, meals, and other duties.* Conducts and participates in therapeutic milieu activities for patients under the direction and guidelines set by the clinical Staff.* Participates as a team member in implementation of improvement in the quality care standards for the Unit.* Complies with the JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals.* Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.Other related duties as required.
