Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems, administers operating systems, and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as scheduling and backups. Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem solving skills to develop and improve processes. May provide guidance to less experienced team members. Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 5+ years of experience.

KBR is seeking to hire a Sr. System Administrator to provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. This Candidate will be responsible for the duties below:

  • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/ network devices, etc.
  • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to appropriate team members.
  • Provides support for hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
  • Configures and manages Linux and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Specific Tasking:

  • Maintain the Lakehurst RDT&E Infrastructure to include layer one infrastructure, both wired and wireless networks, and the network security suite
  • Configure, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and apply STIG controls as directed to network routers, switches, access points, network access controllers, web proxies, firewalls, intrusion detection and protection devices, network monitoring tools, remote access devices, and any new related technologies as implemented.
  • Install, terminate, and troubleshoot network cabling to include Ethernet and fiber optic jumpers and patch cables.
  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network issues using a variety of tools to include sniffers, toners, cable testers, traffic packet analyzers, etc.
  • Work close with our Cyber, Systems Administration, and Virtual Systems teams to provide day-to-day support for RDT&E Labs and customers.

Specific Skills:

  • Required skillsets include familiarity with TCP/IP, Routing Protocols (i.e. OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), Multi-Layer Switching, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, SFTP, SSH, SNMP, SNTP, PIM, CGMP, and IGMP.
  • Experience with network routers, switches, access points, and management tools.
  • Desirable skills are hands on with Cisco routers, switches, and network access devices, Juniper routers and firewalls (including JUNOS), Brocade routers and switches, Aruba Access points, ClearPass mobility controller, Infoblox DNS/DHCP tool, BlueCoat SG Web Proxies, Tipping Point IPS, Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite, SolarWinds Network Management suite, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, Business, or Mathematics. ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: Equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Two (2) of relevant professional experience
  • Clearance Requirement: US Citizen Active Secret clearance and SSBI
