This role will be part of a team that will provide deep technical product and process understanding and will work with lead markets to develop insights to drive innovation. The incumbent will be responsible for leading product development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated programs and work streams developed by the global DS2 organization.This position requires technical knowhow and tactical execution to define and execute a portfolio of complex projects, looking at new perspectives to solve existing and new brand solutions within the DS2 organization.    As a global Product Development Scientist, this role may work on all categories and brands, based on the needs of the business.   The Product development Scientist possess a good drive for results, excellent project management skills, a creative and entrepreneurial growth mindset, and an ability to create strong networks and relationships to drive the innovation agenda.  They work independently with minimal guidance and will build effective cross functional working teams to drive projects to execution. What can you expect from Mars?Minimum Requirements:* Bachelor of Science in a technical area including engineering, chemistry, food science or related.* 4+ years’ experience in leading new product development projects as the key technical member on a cross-functional team.* Hands on experience in the development and successful launch of new products, packages and processes.* Proven track record of management of complex projects through execution, preferably with  cross functional teams.* Excellent oral and written communication skills and learning agility. Preferred Qualifications:* Experience in working with outside vendors to deliver project requirements* Experience working in Food innovation* Experience working within Flexible teams* Master’s degree Key Responsibilities:* Responsible for leading product development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated programs and work streams to bring project through to commercialization* Ensures that the product development for enhanced favorites and the adjacency areas are delivered for the brands and that they are designed to meet the brand KQA’s.* Ensures that the product development process is carried out such that timelines are met to market products.* Ensures that the product specifications are as accurate as possible to ensure correct costing. * Ensures that Product quality and Manufacturing quality performance measures standards and corrective actions are specified for each new and current product to ensure performance at the required level for all manufactured products* Works with cross-functional teams in a design thinking way of working to deliver new and novel innovation for the DS2 innovation area.* Works with the Science and Technology teams to help to develop technology and research strategies required for the programs.* Remains abreast of new developments in food technologies, packaging, design, category trends and related fields* Continually works with key team members in the innovation programs and ensures the technical feasibility of the projects.* Continually works with Regions to scope for new Scale innovation and ensures the technical feasibility of the projects.* A Key Technical expert contact for product development* They will work with the IP team to identify and protect any new innovation.* Connects with peers in other regions, other R&D functions and CBU’s to share best practices, and accelerate the global deployment of new innovations What can you expect from Mars?* The opportunity to learn, develop and take charge of your own career.* An industry competitive salary and benefits package. * To be respected and valued.* The Five Principles at the center of every decision we make.* The opportunity to work cross functionally, add value and impact a better world for generations to come. #LI-NC1Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
