Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Registered Dietitian 2 for Extension in Las Vegas, NV .

***This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.

The Registered Dietitian 2 will identify and provide nutrition education and develop group dietary plans at various correctional facilities, substance use recovery centers and community facilities associated with Extension programming.

The Registered Dietitian will assist in the development and facilitation of population based public health strategies, online resources and policy, systems and environmental strategies as well as assisting with policy, systems and environment efforts with all Health & Nutrition strategies by evaluating menus at facilities such as senior centers, early childhood centers for quality rating and improvement system (QRIS), etc.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with adult populations, experience in substance abuse, body image and/or eating disorders field, and have knowledge of public health, nutrition and basic exercise science.

Required Qualifications

Current registration and licensure by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and one year of professional experience as a Registered Dietitian.

-This position requires being licensed as a Registered Dietitian to practice in the State of Nevada as per NRS 640E.

-A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

-This position requires having your own vehicle/transportation to travel to sites.

-This position requires successful completion of the background check requirements to enter NDOC facilities.


The typical schedule is variable; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
