Job Description: Camp Directors are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the camp, planning age-appropriate programs, and assisting with staff training.

This position works with the Program Coordinator to oversee the performance of the program and supervise any part-time staff working with the program.

Camp Directors are expected to act as a positive role model at all times, pay close attention to detail, build relationships with campers, set-up, and clean-up camp-related activities, adhere to and enforce all Town of Rolesville and Summer Camp policies, and perform other duties as necessary.

Responsibilities: Supervise camp staff and campers, manage the daily operations, assist in staff training, perform daily camp inspections, follow proper discipline procedures, complete reports as needed, administer first aid as needed, effectively lead a team of 5-7 camp counselors in carrying out camp duties, adhere to and enforce all Town of Rolesville and Summer Camp policies, and perform other duties as assigned.nn Examples of Duties nnAssist with program managementSupervise large and small groups of childrenPromote communication flow between supervisor, co-workers, parents/guardians, and participantsCreate a positive experienceAccompany the campers on pre-planned field tripsParticipate in light outdoor field set-upProvide friendly customer service and a welcoming environmentPerform daily camp inspectionsFollow proper discipline procedures as approved by the departmentAdminister first aid and accident report, as neededComplete reports as neededAdminister approved medications for campers as neededVerify employee timecardsSetup and cleanup of activitiesKeep the Camp facility cleaning and organizingPage 2 of 2 Summer Camp Directornn Typical Qualifications nnMust be 18 years or olderHave a high school diploma and completed some college courseworkPrior leadership experience in summer camp or recreational setting preferredPossession of a valid North Carolina Drivers License Desirable Experience: CPR and First Aid CertificationExperience working with children ages 6-12 years old.General knowledge of recreationProgram creation and implementationnn Supplemental Information nn Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the Program Coordinator on-site and the Parks and Recreation Director.

Working Conditions: The employee will be exposed to the outdoor environmentHours will vary based on the activities scheduled for the day.

The camp is open Monday-Friday 7:00 am 6:30 pmAbility to engage in physical activities and manual labor as required, including, but not limited to, prolonged standing, walking, running, hiking, swimming, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
