This is a Full-time position in Ithaca, NY posted April 7, 2021.

nn Background The Corning-Painted Post Area School District, a system of approximately 4,700 pupils, is located in the southern tier of New York State.

The area that it serves is comprised of almost 35,000 people.

The leading industries in the area are Corning Incorporated, Siemens Energy, and tourism.

The District has earned the reputation of providing an excellent educational opportunity for its students.

Six elementary schools, one middle school and one senior high school make up the district.

Historically, the community has always given the school system excellent support.nn nn Position Description Leadership for the Pupil Personnel Services program of the school district including special education will be assumed by this individual.nn nn Position Responsibilities Provide Prek-12 system-wide leadership for assuring the development of effective and appropriate special education services and programs.

Additionally, supervises alternate programs and services for students with special needs, such as: temporary home teaching, those attending non-public schools and students being Home Instructed.

Coordinates and supervises the district health services staff.

In collaboration with the Office of Instruction, implements the district School Counseling, MTSS and Professional Development plan.

Shares supervision with building administrators of district special education teachers, related service providers, CSE Chairpersons, health office staff, school counselors, school psychologists, and school social workers.

Maintains knowledge of developments and innovations in fields pertinent to job responsibilities by reading current literature, attending professional meetings/conferences and discussing current developments with others in these fields.

At the end of a successful four-year period, the individual is eligible for tenure.nn nnPosition QualificationsIt is anticipated that the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:(1) Experience in the instructional area: Special Education(2) Successful full-time teaching experience of at least five years(3) New York State Administrative Certification (SAS and/or SDA, SBL and/or SDL)(4) Proven ability to work effectively with pupils, parents, and staff(5) An understanding of New York State and Federal laws relative to the identification, placement, and program development for special education students(6) Skills to work on a variety of tasks in a flexible manner(7) Proficiency in working with various local and State agenciesnn nnStarting Date on or about July 1, 2021nn nnStarting SalaryCompetitive Based Upon Experiencenn nnApplication DeadlineAll materials must be received by April 1, 2021 at 1:00 pmnn
