Manager-Quality Assurance

JOB SUMMARYThe Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping its internal customers, S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our end-customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the types of services that the organization provides.In this job you will be responsible for overseeing incoming inspection, fabrication inspection, supplier quality issues, and the NMR (Non-Conforming Report) Process.The QA Manager must have advanced proficiency in inspection methods using the appropriate measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, go/no go (attribute) gages, torque wrenches, thread plug gages, and special fixtures provided by engineering for parts verification, have a strong understanding of GD&T, and be able to perform a full specification layout/first article inspection (using a CMM or other precision measuring equipment) ranging from basic to complex components. They must also have experience in dealing with external suppliers and the SCAR process. This position requires having a strong understanding of all open current supplier quality issues discovered at either incoming inspection or on the production floor, and ensuring that they are getting addressed and solved, while keeping the disruptions to production to a minimum.The following people will report to the position:* Supervisor of Component Inspection* Supplier Quality Engineers who work on solving component quality issues* NMR support teamThe job will require you to clearly communicate across all levels of the organization, specifically when dealing with supplier quality issues affecting production. A minimum of 5 years leadership experience is required. Experience with using Compliance Quest or similar QMS is a plus.This position reports to the Senior Manager – Quality Assurance.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:* Formulating strategies to increase inspection productivity within the process* Formalizing the Inspection Process using Compliance Quest* Developing the capabilities of the component inspection team* Utilizing problem solving skills to support the Supplier Quality Engineers on finding root causes of quality problems and implementation of effective corrective actions* Providing quality support for assembly production, by working closely with the Production and Product Engineering teams on quality related issues and improvements* Leveraging technologies to improve the capability and productivity of incoming inspection* Ensuring that all inspection processes are documented and up to date* Developing inspection training for new inspectors* Oversight of the NMR and SCAR processesTo select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical degree.* Minimum of 5 years leadership experience.* Minimum of 7 years in a Quality role.* Ability to work in a high-tempo environment and interact with team members over a wide scope of the organization.* Expertise in process analytics.* Knowledge of Quality Management systems including ISO 9001.* Demonstrated expertise in problem solving.* Enthusiasm, driven, a sense of urgency, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS* Standing: Frequent time spent on shop floor working with the incoming inspection teams* Lifting: Occasional light lifting.* Walking: Occasional walking of moderate distances.* Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects for short distances.* Bending: Occasional bending.* Reaching: Occasional reaching.* Handling: Occasional handling of parts and tools.* Environment: Consists of time spent both in an office environment and on the production floor.
